Single and living in NYC? Forget bars, the female-empowered dating app, Bumble, has just opened a place where you can meet up with your online lovers.
Since the release of Tinder multiple dating apps have emerged, clamoring to be the leader of the market including Grindr, Bumble, and OkCupid. Now it appears Bumble may have taken the next step in upping their game in the market with this new space located in SoHo.
The lounge is called "The Hive", and on the outside it's a place for those who have been talking on the app to safely meet for the first time, or a place where singles can show up at random to meet. As TimeOut points out, this could not only be a place for users to meet their latest hook up, but also shockingly has the potential to be a great place for networking and events.
Already, The Hive has a lot going on. Events they have lined up include talks and panels on relationships and female entrepreneurship, a Q&A with Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe, a style session hosted by Drybar, and a Mentor and Mingle panel with Forbes. Even if you're not going to go for the opportunity to meet someone, these event are set to provide a lot of helpful tips and interesting talks with major influencers. Additionally, the space has included a coffee shop and a liquor bar for a more comfortable, casual experience overall.
Currently, The Hive is only set to last a month, now through June 25, but if the lounge does well enough, it could potentially have an extension or even expand. Whatever it's life is, Bumble and other apps have proven that the world of online dating is ever-expanding, and hints that we can see more innovations from this market in the future.
